Beware of the Walking Dead in Your Branding Images

Beware of Zombie eyes in your branding images.

 

Branding is very important in today's business environment.  There are so many people doing what you do.  You have to separate yourself with branding and promotion.  One of the most important ways you can separate yourself from the crowd is with professional branding images.  I see branding images all the time and sometimes they fail to live up to the greatness of the person they represent.  Do you know how damaging it is to your brand, to have images represent you that look:  Cheap.. Bootleg.. or Homemade?  I don't think these are words, that you want to represent you and the great things you have to offer.  I'm going to continue with tips and info that will help you avoid looking Cheap.. Bootleg and Homemade.

Today we are going into what I like to call the Zombie look.  I know you have seen it and may not realize it.  Think of any zombie movie or Tv show that you have seen.  Or goggle the picture of a zombie.  You are more than likely to see what I call zombie eyes.  Dark pupils and darkness around the eyes.  In film and Tv this is done purposely with makeup and/or lighting.  The purpose is to make the subject look DEAD.  Now... the DEAD look is not exactly what you want to do for branding images, unless you are a temporary cast member of the Tv show, "The Walking Dead".

  It has been said that, "Eyes are the window to the soul."  For your branding images, make sure your eyes show life and energy.  I don't know of anyone who wants to do business with the DEAD?

Your Promo Video May be Dead and You Don't Know It

There are a lot of people doing what you do.  So it's important to separate yourself from the pack with promotions, including images and video.  Videos are a good way to promote your brand but sometimes no video is better than a bad one.  Remember your video will represent you to the world.  Try to have the best quality you can afford and if you can't afford a decent quality, you may want to delay your project.  But remember, quality video services can be found at a reasonable price.  Here is a tip based on some videos that I've seen posted on social media. 

The wrong lighting can make you look like a ghost in your promotional video.

There's  a lighting technique used in film and production, that gives a subject a ghostly look.  I first learned about "ghostly lighting" during a lighting seminar in 1994 and the technique is still used today.   I wont go into detail about how to accomplish it,  but I'm seeing this technique used in corporate, promotional videos

I will take a chance and say this is by mistake.  But the results are the same.  When producing your videos for promotion, be mindful of your lighting.  Lighting sets the mood and helps tell your story.  What story are you telling if your lighting makes you look like you are promoting services from  HEAVEN.  Your services may be good.  But going to heaven to get them may be a stretch for your target audience.  Everyone have a good day and keep promoting YOU and What You Do.

The Right Images Can Mean the Failure or Success of Your Brand

It's always been said, that a picture is worth a thousand words.  What do your pictures say about you and your brand?  The images you use for promoting, speak to the world.  They will show how serious you are about what you do and what you have to offer.  Consumers have so many options. It's important to separate yourself from everyone else.  Let's be real.. that dark and blurry headshot makes you look bad, long before anyone knows what you really have to offer. An effective concept and professional images will take you over the top.  Make an investment in professional images that follow a concept.  The right image will help take you and your brand where you deserve to be.
